Действие фильма «У тихой пристани» происходит в 50-е годы прошлого века. Активный заводской общественник Николай Северьянович Колючкин уходит на заслуженный отдых, но в первое время никак не может привыкнуть к своему пенсионному статусу. Казалось бы, человек радоваться должен: пенсия большая, спи да ешь, играй вечером домино возле дома, или коротай время у телевизора.

But Comrade Kolyuchkin was not brought up to do nothing useful for society, and from idleness he has already begun to suffer from insomnia. He even decides to return to work, but the chairman of the factory committee, although he respected Kolyuchkin, was forced to refuse: the law is the law. The young are always welcome here, the old are always honored!

Kolyuchkin's neighbor, former pop artist Aleksandr Lukich Pushkov, a fellow pensioner, tried to convince him that there are many advantages to life "at a quiet harbor," and it is simply necessary to learn how to use them correctly. Pushkov suggests that Kolyuchkin take up fishing, and even bought him fishing gear.

Now, every morning, the retired friends go fishing, but every time on the way to the river, Comrade Kolyuchkin, who is not indifferent to public life, could not pass by some problem, because of which the friends get into various comical stories...
