Narrative:

The film "The Driver Against His Will" takes place in the late 1950s. The head of "Glavuprsnabsbyt" Ivan Petrovich Pastukhov receives an order to significantly reduce the number of employees in his central office.

It is unknown how this order would have been fulfilled if Pastukhov had not gone on vacation the next day. This time Ivan Petrovich decides to go on vacation in a brand new car, but since he still does not drive well, he takes his personal driver Ivan Savrasov on the road.

On the way, Savrasov has an attack of radiculitis and Pastukhov takes him to the hospital. However, by mistake, Pastukhov and Savrasov exchange jackets, in the pockets of which were their documents and now they have to change roles for a short time.

Mistaking the driver for the head of the department, the hospital's head physician places him in a separate ward, having converted his office into it. Every day, nurses and doctors simply blow dust off their precious patient.

And Pastukhov is forced to get out of a difficult and unfamiliar situation on his own, but without documents it is very difficult. The head of the department is forced to experience all the delights of that ossified bureaucratic system that he himself personified...
