Narrative:

In 1941, front-line cameraman Senior Lieutenant Vladimir Sushkov arrives at the front to film a story for a war newsreel. Sushkov had to work in Lieutenant Muromtsev's battery, which was preparing to repel an attack by German tanks.

This battle became Sushkov's first baptism of fire, and the soldiers and commanders of the battery became his comrades-in-arms, with whom a strong soldierly friendship bound him forever. True, he was unable to finish the story about the heroic battery, and soon Sushkov had to part with his comrades-in-arms, but sooner or later they had to meet on the long roads of war, because all of them, one way or another, led to Berlin.

A few days before the end of the war, Sushkov has a short meeting with his comrades-in-arms, and he promises to come to them and finish the film on the last day of the war. But shortly before the Victory, Sushkov dies, his last story was an episode in which a German girl helps a wounded Soviet soldier. In order to film the material, Sushkov was forced to leave his shelter, and was mortally wounded by a stray enemy bullet...
