Narrative:

On June 24, 1945, a meeting took place in Moscow Victory Parade, which was commanded by Marshal of the Soviet Union Konstantin Rokossovsky. The parade was reviewed by Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov, nicknamed by the people "Marshal of Victory".

This was the peak of Zhukov’s popularity: he has enormous authority in the army and the people love him.

After the end of the war, Georgy Konstantinovich commanded all occupation forces in Germany – the most combat-ready forces in the Soviet Army. The Western press writes about him with gusto, calling the marshal the most likely successor to Stalin as head of state.

But Zhukov does not claim power, he is a military man and his job is to strengthen the country's defense, especially since the ring of enemies was once again tightly closing around his homeland. However, the glory and popularity of the Marshal of Victory does not give Stalin any peace and therefore, instead of the well-deserved post of Minister of Defense of the country, Zhukov was appointed only commander of the ground forces.

But even this was not enough for Stalin, and soon he demoted Zhukov to commander of provincial military districts: first Odessa, and then the Urals.

After Stalin's death, the disgraced marshal is back on top. Using his enormous authority in the army, Zhukov helps Nikita Khrushchev win the power struggle with the powerful Minister of Internal Affairs Lavrentiy Beria, and becomes first deputy minister of defense, and then the minister himself.

However, soon Khrushchev, as Stalin had before, saw in the Marshal of Victory his main competitor and hastened to get rid of him. Now Georgy Konstantinovich was removed from all government posts and sent to a well-deserved rest. But even in retirement, the disgraced Marshal did not calm down and began writing his memoirs, because the new masters in the Kremlin decided to distort the history of the war, in which there was no place for the heroic Marshal...
