The plot of the movie Was there Carotene?:
During the First World War, German intelligence carried out a brilliant operation. The result of this operation was the liquidation of the Entente's largest battleship, the Saint Mary, which was being completed at the Nizhnelimansk shipyard.
In 1918, the authorities of Nizhnelimansk had to send all Germans living in the city to the Urals, but some managed to avoid deportation...
In the early 1930s, a leak of classified information occurs at the Nizhnilimansk shipyard. Local security officers, led by former worker Semyon Lisyuk, are unable to handle the matter.
To beat the counter-revolutionaries is one thing, but to carry out a complex counter-intelligence operation is quite another. For such purposes, the Cheka had special people. In appearance and habits, they were more like bourgeois or noblemen, which irritated such Chekists as Lisyuk.
However, it was precisely such people who could find contacts in the environment that, to put it mildly, did not sympathize with the Soviet power. Such a Chekist was Alexey Alexeyevich Karotin, whom Moscow sent to Nizhnelimansk under the guise of a prominent scientist...
