Narrative:

The action of the film "The Trap for a Single Man" takes place in the late 80s of the last century in France. Daniel Corban contacts the police about the mysterious disappearance of his wife Elizabeth Corban.

However, as soon as the police commissioner left Korban's house, he was visited by the local priest Maximin, who told Daniel that he had found his wife. When the priest showed Korban the woman, he categorically refused to recognize her as his wife and immediately called the police commissioner.

An indignant Korban told the commissioner that the priest and the woman who pretended to be his wife were real swindlers hunting for the inheritance of his missing spouse. The whole point is that after the death of her billionaire uncle, his wife could have become the owner of a large fortune.

Now, most likely, Elizabeth has become a victim of these scammers, who decided to take possession of her uncle's billions by setting up another woman in her place.

All that was left for Korban to do was prove that the woman posing as his wife was not Elizabeth at all. But that turned out to be far from easy. All of Elizabeth's photographs had mysteriously disappeared somewhere, just like she had, and the false Elizabeth had her documents. In addition, the false Elizabeth had answered all of the questions Korban had asked her in the presence of the commissioner regarding their three-month marriage.

And when even the witness, the nurse who gave Korban’s wife injections, recognized the woman as Elizabeth, the commissioner had no doubt that Korban was trying to mislead the investigation.

However, despite all this evidence, Corban insists that the woman and the priest are notorious swindlers who bribed the witness, because Elizabeth's huge inheritance is at stake...
