Narrative:

Action of the film City Romance takes place in the 70s of the last century. The main character of the film is a young but ambitious radiologist Evgeny Arsenyevich Nikitin, who works in a regional Moscow hospital for now, but is engaged in independent scientific work, and plans to achieve great heights in medicine.

However, having met a student of the pedagogical college Maria Savelyeva from the provinces, Nikitin falls in love and for a while forgets about his plans for the future, devoting himself entirely to his young beloved. Nikitin had never been so truly happy with anyone as with Masha, but when the girl, brought up in conservative traditions about family and marriage, decided to move in with him, Evgeny got scared.

Nikitin believed that Masha was rushing things too much, and although he was no longer a young man, marriage and family were not yet part of his plans, since, in his opinion, he had not yet achieved anything in life. This circumstance greatly cooled Nikitin's ardor of love, and he began to pay less and less attention to Masha, and then began to demonstratively neglect her.

Masha realized that Nikitin had most likely fallen out of love with her, and without waiting for him to tell her so directly, she packed her things and went back to the dorm. It seemed that Nikitin was now completely free and could devote himself entirely to his ambitious plans, but the departure of Masha, whom he loved so much, made him completely unhappy. Realizing that he would not be able to live normally without Masha, Nikitin tried to get his beloved back, but Masha, taught by bitter experience, was in no hurry to rush back into his arms...
