Narrative:

The action of the movie "Sinners and Saints" takes place in the present day in the American city of New Orleans. In a shootout with a gang of armed criminals, detective Sean Riley shoots an unarmed and wounded bandit in the head.

This was in excess of necessary self-defense, as Riley's life was not in danger at the time, and the Internal Affairs Department ordered a command investigation into the matter.

However, his superior, Captain Trahan, realizes what a difficult emotional state Sean was in, because his partner was killed in the shootout. A year earlier, Riley's six-year-old son died of leukemia, and then his wife left him.
