Plot of the film How the Steel Was Tempered (1942 film):
The series takes place in 1917 in the small Ukrainian town of Shepetovka. The proletarian revolution that took place in the country gave all working people hope for a better life.
However, the ruling class did not want to give up power so easily and turned against the people. The landowners and capitalists called on foreign interventionists for help, and soon German troops entered Shepetovka.
Young Pavel Korchagin sympathizes with the Bolsheviks from the first days of the revolution, and with the arrival of the interventionists, he enters into an irreconcilable struggle with them. Having freed the Bolshevik sailor Fyodor Zhukhrai from prison, Korchagin becomes a member of the Bolshevik underground, to which he attracts other revolutionary-minded young people.
However, under threat of arrest, Pavel is forced to flee from Shepetovka behind the front line, where he becomes a Red Army soldier in Shchors' army. As part of this army, Red Army soldier Korchagin will soon come to liberate his hometown...
