Plot:

The action of the film "The Key to the Bedroom" takes place in pre-revolutionary Russia, several months before the start of the First World War. The wife of retired artillery captain Chuguev, Aglaya, takes a rich lover in the person of businessman Andrei Vakhlakov. In order to be closer to his mistress, Vakhlakov decides to rent a room in her husband's house, paying a fairly generous fee for it.

Chuguev, who recognized Vakhlakov as his former comrade-in-arms from the Russo-Japanese War, was incredibly happy with his new neighbor, and especially with the amount of money Vakhlakov offered for the room. Having introduced his wife Aglaya to Vakhlakov, Chuguev, pleased with the profitable deal, rushed to the office to draw up a contract with Vakhlakov as best he could.

Meanwhile, taking advantage of his absence, Vakhlakov arranged a meeting with Aglaya at the house on Tavricheskaya Street No. 5. But when the conspirators were weaving their love intrigues, they did not know that a phonograph was turned on in the room, on which Chuguev was recording an audio letter to his mother.

Vakhlakov's sudden visit tore him away from this matter and in his haste he forgot to turn off the device, and when after Vakhlakov's departure Chuguev returned to his work, he heard everything that his wife and her former colleague had been talking about. Having learned of the vile betrayal, Chuguev decides to go to Tavricheskaya No. 5 and expose the lovers...
