Plot:
The action of the film "Quiet Whirlpools" takes place in the late 90s, in Russia. The main character of the film, Anton Mikhailovich Kashtanov, is a well-known surgeon in the country, academician, chairman of the All-Russian surgical center and his own charitable foundation.
It seemed that occupying such a high position in society, a person should only enjoy life, but Kashtanov did not feel happy. He was a talented and first-class surgeon, but recently he operated less and less, and was increasingly engaged in administrative work. And at home, Kashtanov was under the constant and vigilant control of his active and assertive wife Polina, who always decided everything for him.
Wanting to relax a little, Kashtanov decides to go on vacation, but instead of an elite sanatorium, where his caring wife took a ticket, he leaves for the Russian outback, to the village of Tikhie Omuty in the Tver region. Kashtanov does not tell anyone about his whereabouts, so his mysterious disappearance causes a wide resonance.
Even more noise is raised when it becomes known that simultaneously with Kashtanov's disappearance, several million dollars disappear from his charitable foundation. Therefore, Kashtanov is now being sought not only by his caring wife Polina, but also by the entire Russian police, as well as by journalist Evgenia Tobolskaya, nicknamed Jackie, who saw a big sensation in this case.
But having found Kashtanov, Jackie doubted that this modest and intelligent elderly man could commit a crime. And it was unlikely that Kashtanov with millions of dollars was hiding in the village of Tikhie Omuty and working part-time as a boatman at the local boat station. And soon a stormy love affair broke out between the young journalist and the elderly surgeon, which gave Kashtanov hope to feel happy again.
But the happiness did not last long, because the vacation was ending, and the lovers had to return to Moscow, and Kashtanov could not make the most important decision for himself about changing his future life...

Какой дешевый, тяжелый примитив. Бездарная режиссура, операторская работа, актеры не играют, а отбывают время и «тянут лямку». Бездарный Абдулов как дрессированная обезьяна в цирке — только отрепетированные номера, только хорошо отработанные и «насмерть» прилипшие «штампы». Абсолютно не к месту песни Никитиных. Бездарный подбор актеров второго плана («кушать подано»): Хазанов, Макаревич, Невский. Похоже на то, что поцаны собрались по свойски «раздербанить» бюджет и они, таки, это сделали. Тьфу!!! Позор. Жаль потраченного времени.
