The action of this film takes place in the historical period from 1918 to 1919 in Altai. This is a time filled with events of the Civil War in Russia, when the country was torn apart by ideological conflicts.
The plot centers on the fate of a real character of that time - Kirill Osipovich Baev, whose life and actions became a symbol of youth patriotism and the struggle for new ideals.
The main character of the film is young Kostya Baikov, played by actor Sergei Kurakin. This character, being the son of a simple peasant, finds himself involved in a whirlpool of historical events that will change his fate forever. He becomes a scout in a partisan detachment, which implies not only physical courage, but also strategic thinking.
As part of his detachment, Kostya actively participates in the struggle to establish Soviet power in Altai, which makes him not just a witness, but a direct participant in historical transformations.
The film illustrates not only Kostya's personal experiences, but also the broader social changes of the time. Altai, with its mountains and forests, serves not only as a backdrop, but also as an important element symbolizing both the beauty and the harshness of life during the war.
