Plot of the film My name is Harlequin:

The film is set in the late 80s. In the 70th year of building a communist society of universal equality and brotherhood, the government and the people themselves realized that this was, in principle, unachievable.

Young people felt this inequality especially acutely, and yet every Soviet person was taught from childhood that Soviet people were all equal, like the boards in a prison fence.

But no matter how you try to convince them, young people have seen that the children of officials and party workers dress in imported clothes, have Japanese tape recorders and VCRs, and cars.

Other privileges that are not available to children from families of workers and peasants. Although in schools, young people were taught that love for imported things is the first step on the path to betrayal of the Motherland.

In this situation, teenagers restored social justice by taking material resources from their wealthier peers.

They formed groups and traveled to big cities, looking for lonely young people from wealthy families.

The film's protagonist, 17-year-old Andrei, nicknamed "Harlequin", was the leader of one of these groups, which called itself "Vagonka".
