Plot of the film Mirny-21 (2023 film)
In the fall of 2013, mass protests broke out in the capital of Ukraine. Which were caused by the refusal of the president Yanukovych sign an association agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
In February 2014, under pressure from protesters, the government makes some concessions. Although Yanukovych himself withdraws from his duties and flees to Russia.
After this, protests by supporters of the fugitive president unfold in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and other regions of the southeast of Ukraine. Under their cover, pro-Russian separatists, with the support of regular Russian troops in Crimea, carry out a violent seizure of power on the peninsula, with its subsequent annexation to Russia.
The annexation of other regions of the South and East of Ukraine is being prepared according to the same scenario. In the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, pro-Russian separatists are proclaiming the people's republics of the LPR and DPR.
Russian saboteurs and the so-called Donbass militias supported by Russia are seizing government bodies, police departments, security services, and military units.

By the end of spring 2014, almost all security agencies and military units in the south of Luhansk region come under the control of pro-Russian separatists. The only bastion of Ukraine in the regional center becomes the Luhansk border detachment, stationed on the outskirts of Luhansk at the address Mirny-21 quarter.
The commander of the detachment, Aleksandr Avdeyev, receives an offer from the separatists to go over to their side. In return, he is personally promised the position of head of the border and customs service of the "republic".
The offer was tempting. And considering that Avdeev's wife was being kept in one of the hospitals in Lugansk and could easily fall into the hands of the separatists, it was not funny at all.
In addition, Avdeev had more than a hundred employees under his command whose lives he could have saved with his decision.
But, despite the mortal danger, the commander decides to give battle...
