In 1975, the UK suffered an unprecedented economic crisis, caused by the energy crisis of 1973. It was accompanied by high unemployment, numerous strikes and growing debts. The UK found itself on the brink of revolution.
In order to somehow feed their families, many women went out on the "panel". Prostitution became their only source of livelihood. Often, such women became victims of criminals. In 1975, in the small town of Chapeltown in South Yorkshire, the body of a 28-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds was found. This was the first victim of the so-called "Yorkshire Ripper". But he would receive this nickname a little later, when the number of victims increased significantly.
For five long years, the police could not catch the serial killer. During this time, the number of his victims will exceed ten, and the geography of the crimes will expand from Leeds to Manchester.
