Plot:

The action of the film "There was no sorrow" takes place in the early 80s. The main character of the film is the director of a research institute Vadim Petrovich Potapov. By the age of forty, Potapov had achieved everything that an ordinary Soviet person could dream of, and his classmates would probably look at him with undisguised envy if they knew what heights he had achieved.

However, on the personal front, Potapov had no notable victories: he was still unmarried and the only close person who was always there was his mother Yulia Dmitrievna, who no longer had any hope of babysitting her grandchildren.

But one day Potapov finds out that he has a five-year-old daughter, Sashenka, who was born after Vadim Petrovich’s resort romance with a woman from the Moscow region.

All these years, this proud woman did not tell Potapov anything and did not ask him for help, but a few months later she died and before her death she asked her brother to introduce Sashenka to her father...
