Plot of the film The Turning Point (1978 film):
A young and promising biologist, Viktor Vedenev, received a new promotion. And soon he was preparing to defend his doctoral dissertation, which opened up even greater prospects for him.
In addition to his career success, Victor was no less successful in his personal life. He recently married for the second time and went on a cruise on the Black Sea with his young wife Natasha.
However, returning from vacation, Vedeneyev, driving his personal car, hit an elderly woman. The old woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and Viktor got off with a slight fright.
But a few days later he learns that his victim has died. The cause of death was not the injuries sustained in the accident, but they, one way or another, accelerated the woman's death.
Given these circumstances, the case took a new turn. Now Vedeneyev faced a prison term if the court found him guilty of speeding.
At first, Victor tries to find some loopholes to avoid punishment. However, gradually he comes to the conclusion that he must answer for his actions according to the law. Psychologically, he is already ready to go to prison and even withdraws the defense of his dissertation...
