Narrative:

The action of the movie "Homeland or Death" takes place in the summer of 1942. In the Soviet rear German saboteurs committed a major sabotage: a military train with military equipment and personnel was derailed.

In hot pursuit, the officers of the NKVD Special Department detained a young homeless child who had thrown a grenade at a patrol in an attempt to escape. When questioned, the boy said that in German-occupied Belorussia there was a subversive-intelligence school whose cadets were children of traitors repressed before the war.

He also reported that the sabotage on the railroad was the work of a twelve-year-old saboteur Danka Frolov, nicknamed "Rat", who had another task besides this sabotage.

However, conducted operational and search activities indicated that after the successful completion of the task "Rat" safely crossed the front line and returned to the school, therefore, the command decides to send a reconnaissance team to the rear of the enemy in order to eliminate the school.

However, new data of the situation, received during the operation, forced the Soviet scouts to change the plan.
