Narrative:

The action of the movie "Rubezh" takes place in our time. The main character of the movie Mikhail Shurov is a calculating and cynical young Russian businessman, for whom money and business success above all else. Mikhail never fell in love, because he considered love a weakness, and a weak person is always vulnerable. This is what his father, a former orphanage orphan, taught him, and this is how he acted, which is why he achieved great heights in life.

But one day a situation occurs in Mikhail's life that fundamentally changes his worldview, which was considered immutable and unshakeable. A construction firm, of which Mikhail was a co-owner, is mining sand in the region of of the Nevsky Heelwhich during the war was the last line of defense of Leningrad.

Activists engaged in archaeological research in the area block the road and put forward a demand: to suspend the work until the last soldier is reburied. Mikhail with his usual manner tries to negotiate with the activists, but the patriotic young men reject all his proposals.

And one of the activists, Maria Shurova, offers Mikhail to go down to the dugout where the last defenders of the Nevsky Patch died: surrounded on all sides, they preferred to kill themselves rather than surrender. Among these last defenders was the battalion commissar Alexei Vasilyevich Shurov, who could be a relative of Mikhail.

But Mikhail was hard to pity even with such stories, and besides, his father got the name Shurov in the orphanage, and the heroic commissar could hardly be his relative. He was about to leave the dugout, but taking the staple and tearing it off the wooden partition, he travels back in time and finds himself on the very Nevsky Patch, at the very time when the fiercest battles for Leningrad took place here....
