Narrative:

In 1977, the Soviet screens released a multi-part feature film "TASS is authorized to declare", which tells the story of the confrontation between the Soviet and American intelligence services during the Cold War.

But few people knew, then, that this movie was based on the true story of a Soviet counterintelligence operation to expose a particularly valuable CIA agent.

This story began in 1974, when The First Main Directorate of the KGB The USSR received information that some employees of the Soviet Embassy in Colombia were leading immoral lifestyles: drinking, speculating, and even having intimate relations with local residents.

On this basis, CIA officers recruited one of the Soviet diplomats, but who exactly, it was not yet clear. Four people are under suspicion, and close surveillance is organized.

Soon, the main suspect becomes the second secretary of the embassy Alexander Ogorodnik (Agronom), who by then had become an employee of the Foreign Ministry department responsible for work with African and Latin American countries.

Having collected enough evidence against Ogorodnik, the KGB officers decide to detain him, but the agent manages to take poison and commit suicide. Then the Soviet counterintelligence officers decide to give up the double agent Agronom instead of Agronom - a KGB officer disguised as Ogorodnik. Thanks to this brilliant operation, an entire CIA spy network operating in the USSR was exposed...
