Narrative:

The action of the movie "Yeoman» происходит в 1944 году. Советское командование понимает, что война скоро закончиться и решает всех молодых парней, имеющих семь классов образования, отправлять учиться в военные училища. Даже тех, кто уже успел попасть на фронт, и понюхать пороху, решено было отправить за парты.

To replenish the junior commanders for future officers, it was planned to send experienced front-line soldiers from among sergeants and petty officers who had been seriously wounded and could not be of use on the front lines.

One of such junior commanders had to become a combat tanker Petty Officer Katsuba, who was seriously wounded in battle and underwent a course of treatment in hospital. Katsuba was sent as a petty officer to a flying school, where he had to change not only his profession, but also his "coloring". But for the petty officer, who was a "mother" for the cadets, it did not matter whether he was a pilot or a tanker.

From the first minute Petty Officer Katsuba tightens the screws in the unit entrusted to him, realizing that military discipline is the key to successful training of the cadet, but such a harsh approach was not to the liking of his subordinates, especially those cadets who have already had time to be on the front line. Often these cadets spoke to the petty officer with a high voice, insultingly calling him a rear rat, because Katsuba, unlike them, never boasted of his combat past.

Nevertheless, the more the men got to know their petty officer, the more they understood him. The petty officer not only mentored his men, but also took care of them in every possible way, not letting them take offense. Katsuba was not afraid of either senior officers or generals and could always defend his point of view and his cadets.

The desire of many cadets to finish school faster, and get to the front, cut short the joyful message from the Informburo about the end of the war.

On this day, Victory Day, Petty Officer Katsuba dressed in his ceremonial tunic with many military decorations, and his students were surprised to learn that their commander did not rub his pants all through the war in the wardroom, and together with their fathers made every effort to liberate the homeland ...
