Plot:

The action of the film "At the Beginning of Glorious Deeds" takes place in the early 80s. After the death of Tsarina Natalia Kirillovna, her son Peter becomes the Tsar of Muscovy.

Even before his reign, young Peter understood that Muscovy was far behind Europe in the scientific, cultural and even military spheres. This greatly hindered further development, and Moscow was forced to pay tribute even to the small Crimean Khanate.

From the first days of his reign, Peter decided to radically change the situation. A military victory over the Turks was to serve as the beginning of glorious deeds that would make Russia a great world power.

However, during the storming of the fortress "Azov" Peter and his army suffered a defeat. Having risked approaching the fortress by land, and not having enough ships for support from the sea, Peter lost a large number of people and was forced to retreat to Muscovy.

But Peter drew the right conclusions from this story: to become a world power, Muscovy needs a large and strong fleet. Therefore, upon returning to Moscow, Peter gives the order to build ships.

The Moscow autocrat himself goes to Europe. Here, under the guise of a simple worker, he works as a carpenter at the Ostatskaya shipyard.
