Plot of the movie Bus Driver (1983):
The film takes place on June 22, 1982. The main character, the driver of the Minsk-Brest bus, Semyon Mikhailovich, is getting ready for another trip. Semyon is forty-seven years old, he has an adult daughter, a son-in-law, a grandson, and a beloved woman, Antonina.
However, that morning Antonina gave Semyon an ultimatum: either he takes her to MARRIAGE REGISTRY or does not return to her after the flight.
Semyon, who divorced his wife nine years ago, was in no hurry to formalize their relationship, so now, on the road, he needs to decide what to do.
Before the flight, as usual, Semyon carefully examined his passengers, trying to guess their profession or social status. One passenger especially attracted Semyon's attention; he was brought to the bus in a white Volga, but dropped off far from the bus.
But as soon as the bus started moving, Semyon plunged into memories, because on this day exactly forty-one years ago the terrible war began, which, as it were, divided time into before the war and after the war.
At that time, Semyon was six years old. His father was a major in the Red Army, a commissar who served in a border garrison.
On the eve of the war, his father already had information about preparations on the other side of the border, and managed to send Semyon and his mother to the rear. Semyon never saw his father again, but he and his mother did not manage to get far.
The Germans put his mother in a car and took her with them, and Semyon went to his grandfather Kirill.
Grandfather Kirill was an underground member, but on behalf of the underground he held the position of village elder. It was not easy for grandfather to serve in this position, because fellow villagers now hated him and expressed their contempt for him. But soon grandfather learned of the death of his daughter and Semyon's mother. Now he could no longer contain his rage.

Having taken a machine gun from the attic, the grandfather shot about ten German soldiers and officers, and he himself died in an unequal battle.
Grandfather's brother Trofim, knowing that the Germans would not leave the boy alive, sends him into the forest to the partisans. Semyon's thoughts were interrupted by a white Volga, which was relentlessly following the bus, the Volga in which the strange passenger arrived.
But Semyon decided that his suspicions were the result of his passion for detective novels and switched to thinking about his passengers. Many had already become acquainted with each other and found a common language. Only one passenger at the end of the cabin was looking sullenly out the window.
In the evening, when it was already dark, a strange passenger suddenly asked to get off, and a few minutes later the bus was stopped by inspectors. They demanded that Semyon open the luggage compartment of the bus, supposedly to check whether the driver was carrying illegal cargo. Having found a black case among the luggage, they beat Semyon, got into a white Volga and disappeared.
As it turned out, one of the passengers, who had worked in the North for a long time, was carrying a large sum of money in his briefcase, which was what the criminals were after. But among the passengers was also a military school graduate, tank lieutenant Dmitry. He suggests that the bus driver catch up with the criminals and neutralize them.
Having thrown all the passengers out of the bus, Semyon and Dmitry rushed in pursuit. Having caught up with the Volga, Semyon, under the direction of the tank lieutenant, rammed the car at the moment when the criminals almost lost their pursuit.
The impact sent the Volga flying into a ditch and landing on its roof. Without giving the criminals time to come to their senses, Semyon and Dmitry detained them until the police arrived…
