The series takes place in our time. Businessman Pavel Khromov's restaurant burned down, and now he owes a large sum of money to his creditors.

Newlywed wife Marusya advises Pavel to contact his father, who had a country house. This old-fashioned mansion was not of particular value to potential buyers, but the land on which it was located was worth a lot of money.

However, the difficulty was that his father loved this house very much, and Pavel's relationship with him had not been going well lately. And besides, Pavel had a younger brother, Alexei, who also laid claim to his father's inheritance.

Pavel goes to persuade his father to sell the house, but he dies unexpectedly and makes out the will in Alexey's name.
