Plot:
The action of the film "All the King's Men" takes place in the mid-60s of the last century in the USA. In one of the states, another gubernatorial election is held, in which the candidate from the Democratic Party, Willie Stark, unexpectedly wins.
Although at the beginning of the election race, the provincial lawyer Stark was considered a pawn in the hands of more experienced rivals, who simply used him to take votes away from the incumbent governor Sam McMurphy.
However, his opponents underestimated the cynical populist and demagogue Stark, who with his loud promises managed to win the sympathy of not only the broad masses of the people, but also powerful financial tycoons, whose support ensured his unconditional victory.
Along with Stark, his administration, "the whole king's army," comes to the State Capitol: people from his personal security, ready to carry out any order, secretary and lover Sadie Burke, journalist Jack Burden and the hardened politician Tiny Duffy, who previously worked for his opponents.
Having come to power, Stark thinks least of all about his election promises. Even now, the state governor's seat was too small for the ambitious provincial lawyer. The post of the President of the United States is Stark's main goal, but for now he needs to become a senator.
Stark's nomination as a state senator is actively opposed by Judge Irvin, who has previously criticized the new governor's authoritarian tendencies. In response, Stark orders his secretary Jack Burden to find incriminating material on Irvin.
Meanwhile, supporters of former Governor McMurphy have already collected dirt on Stark himself, who was accused of land speculation. They are launching a broad campaign in the press, demanding that Governor Willie Stark be brought to trial...
