Plot:

The film takes place during the Great Patriotic War. Seriously wounded in battle, junior sergeant Fyodor Bochkarev ends up in a front-line hospital, along with nurse Polina Ivanova, who carried him off the battlefield.

Федор сразу полюбил свою спасительницу. «Я тебя никогда не забуду» — говорил Федор Полине, а по окончании войны он пообещал ее обязательно разыскать и жениться. Их военно-полевой роман длился всего несколько недель, после чего Федор опять уходит на фронт.

And soon he is captured, and then sent to a concentration camp, and therefore his connection with Polina is broken.

The war ended and Fyodor returned home. He remembered his promise to Polina and from the very first days began searching for her. However, finding a person in a huge country, especially with such a "rare" Russian surname Ivanova, was very difficult. The matter was further complicated by the fact that Polina was an orphan and was raised in an orphanage.

Nevertheless, Fyodor did not give up hope of finding Polina, and several years passed in this fruitless search. However, life took its toll, and Fyodor understood that he could not search for Polina forever and needed to somehow arrange his life. Having married, Fyodor acquired a family and became the father of three children, but at the same time he never forgot Polina.

Only years later, a lucky chance helps Fyodor find Polina. It turns out that she had a daughter from him and all this time lived under the name Bochkareva, not Ivanova, and most importantly, she was still waiting for him...
