The plot of the movie His Excellency's adjutant:
The film takes place in 1919. The Russian Civil War has reached its climax. More and more, the scales of this war were tipping in favor of the Bolsheviks. They managed to hold Moscow, Petrograd, the Urals and the Far East. In the southwestern direction, the Bolsheviks advanced to Kyiv and took control of the city.
However, the situation on the fronts could change at any moment. The former tsarist general Kovalevsky gathered a volunteer army of many thousands on the Don, which could cut the front with one blow and encircle the Bolsheviks near Kiev and Moscow.
Kovalevsky has already managed to take control of Donbass and Kharkov, where he placed the headquarters of his army.
In addition, in the rear of the Reds and Whites, there were scattered but well-organized gangs of self-proclaimed atamans who fought against everyone.

One of these atamans, nicknamed "Angel," captures the intelligence officer Pavel Koltsov. A former tsarist officer, nobleman, and participant in World War I, Koltsov consciously went over to the side of the revolution. Given his background, the Cheka decides to send him as an agent to Kovalevsky's army in order to receive important information about the enemy's plans in a timely manner.
There were several other White officers in the Angel's captivity, whom Koltsov incites to escape. During the escape, Koltsov acts decisively and selflessly, which serves him well when the fugitives arrive at Kovalevsky's location.
Moreover. Having heard about the brave officer, General Kovalevsky makes him his adjutant. The Cheka itself had little hope of such success, since now they could receive all of Kovalevsky's most secret plans first-hand.
However, in reality, Koltsov was putting himself at mortal risk. After all, from the first days of his stay at Kovalevsky's location, he was constantly followed by the head of counterintelligence, Colonel Shchukin, who had served under the legendary General Brusilov during the First World War...
