The series takes place in the late 80s of the last century. After graduating from a military school, Alexey Shvetsov is going to get married, but on the day of the wedding he is unexpectedly arrested and on a false charge of robbing a savings bank sentenced to 6 years in prison. Having served his sentence, Alexey is released as a criminal no one needs.

His fiancée Anya married someone else, and the former convict could not even dream of a military career. And in the new reality in which the country found itself, military service was not held in high esteem. The state no longer needed the army, and the state itself lived its own life separate from the people, condemning people to survival.

In this situation, everyone survived as best they could, and only those who had strength could survive. The consequence of this was the comprehensive criminalization of all spheres of state activity without exception. Like mushrooms after the rain, large and small gangs appeared, which were now called OPG (organized criminal groups), and their leaders became the real masters of life. Now not only professional criminals become bandits, but also athletes, military personnel, and law enforcement officers.

The growth of the number of gangs provoked internecine conflicts for spheres of influence, which grew into a real war in the first half of the 90s. Like any war, the criminal war required highly qualified specialists, therefore, former military personnel became the striking force of gangster groups.

While still in prison, Alexey met one of the leaders of a well-known capital gang, Andrei Pyryev, and soon after his release he joined the bandits, becoming the group’s full-time killer.

However, the gangster life, although beautiful, was still fleeting, and soon Alexey realized that sooner or later he would be killed either by his own people or by strangers. In addition, MUR operatives were on his tail. He needed to urgently tie up with the criminal trade and flee the country, but Alexey could not do this because of his beloved woman, because he joined the gang only to protect Anya...
