Narrative:

The action of the film "Informed Source in Moscow" takes place in 1945. A young assistant cook at the Metropol Hotel, Victor Louis, who received a pack of imported cigarettes from a foreigner, was arrested by the NKVD and accused of spying against the USSR.

True, soon the case against Louis was reclassified as speculation, and Victor, having received 10 years of imprisonment, went to the North, to the city of Inta, to serve his undeserved punishment.

In the camp, Victor meets American journalist Guy Kingston, who was serving time for espionage, thanks to whom he himself will become a world-famous journalist. But that will be later, and for now Victor does not waste time: he reads a lot and, with Kingston's help, learns English.

In 1955, after being released from the camp, Victor Louis goes to Moscow and, thanks to Kingston's patronage, meets another American journalist, Edmond Stevens. Stevens helps Victor find a job and soon he becomes a journalist for a number of well-known Western newspapers.

But real fame came to Victor Louis in 1964, after he published an article in American newspapers about Khrushchev's resignation, earlier than it was officially announced. It was clear to everyone that Louis could only get this information from the closest circle of the new leader of the USSR Leonid Brezhnev, therefore, he received the title of an informal mouthpiece of the Kremlin or as he began to be called: "Informed source in Moscow"

Louis closely cooperates with the KGB and carries out various delicate and provocative assignments from its head, Yuri Andropov, for which he is allowed to receive all the royalties he earns in the Western press.

Thanks to this, Victor Louis lives in grand style in a general's mansion with security. He travels the world, personally meets with leaders of world powers and outstanding people of art and science, and his personal collection of prestigious foreign cars could be the envy of Brezhnev himself...
