Narrative:
Действие фильма «Через тернии к звездам» происходит в XXIII веке. Космический корабль – патрульный звездолет дальней разведки «Пушкин» обнаруживает на своем пути неизвестный космический корабль, потерпевший катастрофу.
On board the spaceship, the astronauts found many corpses of cloned humanoid creatures, only one of the clones, a young girl who was in a spacesuit during the explosion, miraculously turned out to be alive. The girl was very wary and did not make contact with earthlings, so Professor Nadezhda Ivanova believes that the clone girl can be dangerous for people and first it is necessary to conduct research into the purpose and who cloned her.
However, Ivanova's colleague Sergei Lebedev believes that the girl should be placed in his home, since a home environment can better facilitate establishing contact. The extended contacts council was forced to agree with Lebedev's arguments, and soon the girl ended up in his home. Lebedev introduces her to his mother and son Stepan, who willingly help the professor establish contact with the girl.
So soon contact was established and Lebedev learned that the girl's name was Niya, but it was impossible to find out what planet Niya was from. Nadezhda Lebedeva, who conducted Niya's biocontrol, found that there was an area of control in her brain from the outside, and when this area was affected, she lost control, therefore Niya was controlled, but by whom and from where?
One day, Niya accidentally sees a report on TV about the arrival of Rakan, the envoy of the planet Dessa. The planet Dessa had exhausted all its natural resources and was on the brink of an ecological catastrophe.

The government of Dessa asked the earthlings who had developed the technology to cleanse the planet to provide urgent assistance to the planet. To carry out this mission, a special spaceship, the Astra, equipped with an environmental cleaning system, is sent to Dessa. Having recognized Rakan, Niya quietly sneaks onto the Astra to return home.
Having arrived on Dessa, the Astra specialists launched several probes onto its surface, which were supposed to determine the degree of pollution of the planet, and it turned out to be monstrous. The inhabitants of Dessa were forced to live in special mines, and could only move around the surface wearing gas masks. The real power on Dessa belonged not to the government, but to the local oligarch Turanchoks.
Turanchoks simultaneously owned factories that polluted the environment and the production of gas masks, masks, and oxygen. Having learned through his man, embedded in Rakan's mission, about the arrival of earthlings, Turanchoks decides to prevent the planet's cleansing at all costs.
Turanchoks' headquarters were located in the former institute of Galan, the creator of the clones, and Turanchoks had access to the clone control center. Having called Niya, Turanchoks hands her a watch with an explosive device embedded in it and sends her back to the Astra, but this time Turanchoks' criminal plan is thwarted...
