A mysterious phenomenon has occurred on the outskirts of the solar system. The few video frames received from spaceships that have reached Earth indicate that the starships are exposed to powerful cosmic radiation. The astronauts' brains are actively affected.

It was found that the strange cosmic radiation has the shape of a ring and comes from the planet Diana in the constellation Orion. Scientists called this mysterious phenomenon "Orion's Loop" and found that in two years the deadly loop will reach Earth, and then life on the planet will cease to exist.

The reasons for the death of people caught in the "Orion Loop" remained unclear. The miraculously surviving Italian astronauts, who had gone deeper into the loop than others, were placed in a neurological center after returning to Earth and could not tell anything about the causes of the accident, or about their miraculous rescue.

Having examined the astronauts who had returned from the loop, scientists suggested that an unknown radiation was destroying the human central nervous system. The proximity of an imminent catastrophe united the efforts of scientists from all countries to combat the unknown danger. Soviet scientists proposed sending a new-generation starship, Phaeton, equipped with a fundamentally new defense system capable of resisting any known biological radiation, to study the loop.

The crew of the Phaeton was decided to be staffed not only with people, but with new generation robots (cybers), which were made as doubles of the crew members. Entering the Orion Loop, the Phaeton crew members begin to encounter unknown creatures - holograms. The captain of the starship Pavel Belov suggested that these holograms were created by intelligent beings of extraterrestrial origin, and clearly more developed than earthlings.

Through these holograms, the aliens are trying to warn the astronauts about something, but as soon as the conversation turns to danger, they suddenly disappear. Flight engineer Dmitry Tamarkin suggested that the reason for this could be excitement and the negative energy released during it, which affects the holograms.

The next time they decided to contact the aliens, they decided to send a cyber. This time, the astronauts managed to learn the secret of the "Orion Loop". It was created by the aliens of the planet Diana as a defense mechanism against the deadly galactic virus Er Zet, which was approaching the earth and was causing "glass disease" in people.

The inhabitants of Diana themselves, settlers from the planet "Phaeton" - the tenth planet of the solar planet, which perished thousands of years ago, had long been familiar with the Earth and its inhabitants, therefore, now they tried to help their former "neighbors" in space.

In order to save the Earth, the astronauts of the Phaeton had to get to the center of the Orion Loop to get protection against a terrible space virus. Despite the fact that the onboard computers of the starship show a powerful clot of energy inside the loop, which is dangerous for human life, the crew of the Phaeton believed their brothers in mind and decided to go to the very heart of the Orion Loop...
