Movie plot:
The film takes place in the 21st century in a fictional country. There, as a result of a meteorite falling, an anomalous territory or, as it was called, the ZONE, appeared.
After the troops sent to the ZONE did not return, its perimeter was cordoned off with police cordons. And various fantastic rumors and legends began to spread about the ZONE itself.
One of these legends was that there was a Room in the ZONE where any cherished desires were fulfilled. Therefore, despite the police cordons, the flow of those wishing to get into the zone did not dry up. Only now it was possible to get into the ZONE with the help of a special guide (Stalker).
This time, Stalker's clients were a Writer who had written himself out, who believed that the ZONE would give him inspiration for writing new books. And a Professor who intended to find some scientific discovery in the ZONE.

On the way, the guide instructs fellow travelers on the rules of conduct in the ZONE. Here, they never return by the same route they came here, and the direct route in the ZONE is not always the shortest.
The entire ZONE was a system of ingenious traps and pitfalls. And you can survive here if you unquestioningly follow all the guide's requirements.
But by the end of the journey, the Writer and the Professor became disillusioned with the ZONE and considered all these miracles and legends to be fiction, which served to ensure that such stalkers earned their living by guiding the ships of naive simpletons.
And the writer assumed that their guide was just a flawed loser. Only in the ZONE does he feel like a significant person. Having here complete power over those whom he brings here.
However, after leaving the ZONE, the Professor and the Writer realized that their Stalker was simply blissful or possessed. He sincerely believed in the miraculous nature of the ZONE and tried to convey this belief to others…
