The plot of the movie Children of the Cast Iron Gods:
In the monumental industrial environment of the defense metallurgical giant, whose history dates back to the middle of the 20th century, a tense confrontation is unfolding. Among the veterans of the enterprise, who remember the visit of high-ranking officials back in the post-war years, there is an unspoken rivalry between the representatives of the plant and the mine. This confrontation finds its expression in fist fights, peculiar duels of bogatyrs of the industrial era.
One day, a representative of a mine clan challenges factory worker Nikolai Nasekin, proposing to change the traditional rules of the fight. This time the stakes are raised: the fight should not last until the first blood, but until the death of one of the opponents. The winner is promised ten liters of alcohol and two hundred rubles as a reward.
A proposal arises among the factory workers to hold a battle at the open-hearth furnace, counting on the advantage of familiar territory. However, Ignat, the protagonist of the story, assesses the situation more soberly. He realizes that the opponent, a mine fighter named Bekbulatka, has inordinate strength, and such a ruse does not guarantee victory.
On the eve of the decisive fight, Ignat finds himself involved in a number of risky ventures. First, he participates in stealing sheep from the locals, narrowly escaping a lynching. Then he joins in the robbery of a railroad train. At the same time, a high-ranking military officer arrives at the mill to inspect tests of new armor produced at the plant. During the firing of a powerful gun Ignat receives a slight contusion....
The mill management shows leniency to such "entertainments" of workers, seeing them as a necessary steam release in the harsh conditions of production. Just before the fight, Nikolay Nasekin passes the baton to Ignat, referring to his age and seeing the young worker as a promising fighter. Under the guidance of his experienced mentor, Ignat undergoes intensive training, hardening his will and body.
The narrative culminates in a brutal duel between Ignat and Bekbulatka. In a hard fight Ignat wins a well-deserved victory.
