The plot of the movie Captain Grant's Children (movie 1936):
Lord Glenarvan and his young wife Helen are on a wedding trip on his yacht "Duncan". During a shark hunt, the crew of the Duncan retrieve a bottle with a note from the belly of a dead fish.
The note, written in three European languages, showed that a few years ago the Scottish three-masted ship Britannia was wrecked near the coast of Patagonia on the 37th parallel.
The only survivors of the crew were Captain Harry Grant and two sailors, who became prisoners of the cruel natives. On returning to Glasgow, Lord Glenarvan first sought out Captain Grant's children, Robert and Mary, and told them of their father's bitter fate.
And then went to the Royal Admiralty to petition for the organization of an expedition to rescue Captain Grant and his sailors.
But the Admiralty refused, soberly reasoning that it would take many more casualties to find a few men. Back on the Duncan, Lord Glenarvan informs Robert and Mary of the authorities' refusal to rescue their father.
Seeing how upset Captain Grant's children are, Lady Glenarvan proposes to her husband to go in search of Captain Grant, thus combining his wedding journey with a noble goal - to help the children of the courageous Scotsman.
What dangerous and exciting adventures lay ahead. A few days later, "Duncan" went to sea, and his crew had no idea Exploring the thirty-seventh parallel courageous travelers crossed three oceans and two continents, many of them will fall in the fight with different kinds of villains, and natural elements that will meet them on the way.
But fortune loves a brave and persistent man. When it seemed that the travelers had lost all hope of ever finding Captain Grant, fate had mercy on them.
Sailing past the uninhabited island of Tabor near New Zealand the courageous and exhausted Scotsmen, exhausted by their fruitless search, saw a hopeful bonfire on the shore, which could mean they were close to their goal....
