The plot of the movie The Heist (movie 1982):

The movie is set in the United States in 1910. The powerful financial magnate Starkweather, who had great influence in the government and the Senate, suddenly finds himself in a very difficult position because of the young and ambitious self-nominated senator Howard Knox.

In a few days, Knox will speak in the Senate with a report that will cause a great resonance in American society, because it will be about the large-scale financial fraud Starkweather.

Starkweather wouldn't have cared much about the report if Knox couldn't back up his words with solid evidence, but Knox had such evidence, because a few days ago secret documents had been stolen from Starkweather's office in New York.

Starkwater has no doubt that Knox has now taken possession of the documents, and sends his assistant Hubbard to negotiate with the stubborn senator. At first Hubbard tries to bribe Knox, but when he refuses the money, Hubbard steals the documents from him and returns them to Starkwater.

However, Starkwater's eldest daughter Margaret, who fully shares Knox's political views, steals documents from her father.
