Narrative:

The action of the movie The collapse of an empire takes place in February 1919. It is already the third year of a futile war for Russia, claiming more and more victims. Meanwhile, the economic situation in the country was rapidly deteriorating, causing discontent among the workers.

A revolutionary situation was looming, when the upper classes could no longer rule in the old way, and the lower classes did not want to live in the old way, and it was clear to every sober-minded person that the collapse of the empire is not far off. But the Tsar stubbornly did not want to withdraw from the war, despite the increasingly loud calls to conclude a separate peace with the Germans.

This was also insisted upon by the Bolsheviks, who in those days of February, overcoming police cordons and ambushes, rushed to St. Petersburg. Unable to restrain the revolutionary mood of the masses, the ruling elite decides to seize the initiative, and to carry out the revolution not from below, but from above, in order to preserve for themselves the power and dominant position. For the sake of this, they decide to sacrifice the Tsar, who by that time had lost control over the country.

After the abdication of the Tsar, power in the country is transferred to a provisional government formed from the same Tsarist ministers and deputies. Realizing that the workers were again being deceived, the Bolsheviks urged them not to stop and to go on until the complete victory of the working class.
