Narrative:
Action of the film May starstakes place in May 1945 in liberated Czechoslovakia and consists of four short stories.
The first story tells of a Soviet general who, together with his adjutant and driver, stopped to rest in the house of a Czech family. Seeing that the general, tired from heavy battles and sleepless nights, falls asleep at the table, the family suggests that he sleep a little in the room upstairs.
But their little son, who liked the general's papakha, does not give the general any peace. Then the general puts the boy next to him, and after a while he himself falls asleep peacefully. Looking at the peacefully sleeping boy, the general's whole life flashes before him...
Soviet sappers stopped near a Czech school, and Lieutenant Andrei Rukavichkin went there to get chalk to mark the demined areas. Here he met a young teacher, the beautiful Yana. The young people, from whom the war took the best years and the opportunity to love, instantly fell in love with each other at first sight, without thinking that this short meeting was probably the first and last in their lives...
Czech Mr. Novak returns home to Prague after a stay in the German concentration camp in Auschwitz. But near his home, he is forced to stop: from the windows of his apartment, some unfinished fascist henchman opens fire on peaceful passers-by. To resolve the incident, a Soviet tank arrives at the scene.

The tank commander, a young guy named Alyosha, does not want to risk himself or his subordinates for the sake of this unfinished bourgeois with his house, but when he finds out that this is the apartment of an Auschwitz prisoner, he gives his tank crews the all-clear and decides to personally deal with the enemy survivor...
The first tram set out in Prague. One of its first passengers was Soviet sergeant Fedul Petrovich Platonov, who had worked as a tram driver in Kyiv before the war. Deciding to remember his youth, Platonov asked the driver to let him drive the tram for at least one stop. Following service instructions, it was strictly forbidden to hand over control of the tram to another person, so the driver was forced to refuse the sergeant-liberator, but unexpectedly the passengers stood up for him. Under public pressure, the Czech driver was forced to violate the instructions...
