Narrative:
The action of the film "Mentovskaya Saga" takes place in the early 90s of the last century. Perestroika, the course for which the leadership of the USSR headed by Mikhail Gorbachev in the mid-80s, was coming to an end. However, the result of political and economic reforms was not the renewal of the country, but its complete collapse.
The political and economic crisis has led to mass closures of businesses, empty shelves in stores and a significant deterioration in the standard of living of the population. But for those who are used to parasitizing on the difficulties of others, better times have come.
The rapidly growing market economy gave birth to a whole class of “new Russians”: cooperators, entrepreneurs and bandits. For the average person, it was sometimes difficult to distinguish the line between businessmen and bandits, since both used various criminal schemes to achieve their goals.
The criminal chaos that swept the country in the early 90s was possible due to the complete paralysis of the law enforcement system. The humiliatingly low salaries of police officers forced experienced employees to quit and seek work in private security structures that were closely connected to crime.
However, despite all this, there were people who did not quit the service and continued to honestly fulfill their duty. Young traffic police inspector Mikhail Ofitserov detains a dangerous criminal and goes to work in criminal investigation.
In addition to Mikhail, the department is replenished with other "romantics of the search". These include former tank officer Petr Bakhtin, graduate of the Higher Police School Vitaly Poluyektov and failed cooperator Oleg Pokrovsky. All of them are still new to the search and at first they often lack operational savvy, but a huge desire to catch bandits compensates for professional shortcomings...
