The film takes place in Russia, at the beginning of the most difficult 90s for the country. The famous writer Oleg Vladimirovich Goryunov returns to Moscow from a trip around the country, where he held meetings with his writers. But upon arrival in Moscow, strange and almost mystical things begin to happen to him.

While still on the train, he is threatened by a certain nationalist who did not like Goryunov's books, and then at the station, a gypsy woman predicts his imminent death. According to the gypsy woman, Goryunov has only 24 hours left to live. But these 24 hours will be very eventful. Firstly, the love of a young and very beautiful girl awaits him, and secondly, in an hour he will have a meeting that no one has ever had before.

Goryunov was very critical of these predictions of the station prophets, but as soon as he entered his apartment, he realized that he was mistaken and the gypsy's prediction was really starting to come true. Despite the fact that his apartment was under a security alarm, a young man got into it, calmly sat in a chair and waited for the owner.

The man's face turned out to be painfully familiar to Goryunov, and soon he realized with surprise that this young man was an exact copy of himself in his youth. The first thing the writer thought was that the young man was his illegitimate son, but the guy immediately refuted Goryunov's assumption even before he had time to voice it.

What this strange young man said could shock anyone, and Goryunov was no exception. The guy told the writer that he was his exact copy, just from another time. He and Goryunov had the same name: last name, first name, patronymic and biography, the only difference was age…
