Plot of the film Investigation is led by ZnaToKi (Case No. 4: Guilty Head):

A certain Irina Sergeevna Maslova, the head of production at the Angara restaurant, and the deputy director of the restaurant, Kudryashov, who organized a confectionery shop at the restaurant that was engaged in the production of “illegal” products, were arrested in connection with the case of theft of socialist property.

After her arrest, Maslova willingly cooperated with the investigation, voluntarily handing over all the money and valuables she had earned dishonestly, while Kudryashov denied everything and tried to shift all the blame for what he had done onto Maslova.

At that time, an audit was being conducted in the restaurant at the request of the OBKhSS, but even before receiving its final results, the senior investigator of the MUR, Major Znamensky, could say with certainty that the main organizer and ideological inspirer of the thefts in the restaurant was undoubtedly Kudryashov, and Maslova was most likely a confused victim, although far from innocent.

A guilty head is not chopped off with a sword, therefore, seeing Maslova’s sincere repentance, Znamensky petitions the leadership to change Maslova’s preventive measure from arrest to a written undertaking not to leave. Znamensky’s colleague from OBKhSS Mikhail Tokarev, who considered Maslova to be a very calculating and cunning criminal.

Nevertheless, the police leadership accepted Znamensky's arguments and approved his decision to release Maslova on bail. But a few days after leaving the pretrial detention center, Maslova suddenly disappeared in an unknown direction...
