Narrative:

The action of the film "Coach" takes place in our time. The forward of the Moscow "Spartacus" and the Russian national football team Yuri Stoleshnikov does not convert the penalty he earned against the Romanian national team in the decisive match of the World Cup qualification.

Next there will be a conflict with the referee, being sent off the field, a fight with fans and finally, a one-year disqualification, which for the thirty-four-year-old footballer meant the end of his career as a player.

But the end of his career as a player does not mean the end of his football career, and soon Stoleshnikov received an unexpected offer from the provinces. He was offered the post of head coach of Novorossiysk Meteor, which played in the first division of the Russian championship.

At the time Stoleshnikov took over as head coach of Meteor, the club was at the bottom of the league table and had no prospects of getting into the Russian football premier league in the foreseeable future.

The club's financial situation was far from the best, and this was reflected in the moral and psychological state of the players themselves, many of whom had already given up on themselves. The team, as Stoleshnikov understood, was a burden for the city and was not loved by the fans.

But the newly appointed coach Yuri Stoleshnikov does not give up and in a short period of time he manages to restore confidence in his charges. Therefore, soon his team, from which no one expected anything, finds itself in the final of the Russian Cup, where it will have to play with the grandee of Russian football, Moscow Spartak.

For this match against his former teammates, Stoleshnikov decides to enter the field as a player-coach in order to be close to his players...
