Narrative:
The action of the film "55 degrees below zero" takes place in the mid-80s of the last century. An accident occurs at one of the Ural metallurgical plants: a train with red-hot metal flies off the overpass.
A special investigative commission is leaving Moscow to investigate the causes of the accident, but before the commission arrives, the plant is conducting its own investigation.
According to the chief engineer of the plant, Petr Kuznetsov, the cause of the accident was the deformation of the rails due to constant temperature differences. The transport department was responsible for the technical condition of the tracks, so Kuznetsov places all the blame on its boss, Semyon Konovalov.
However, unexpectedly for Pyotr Kuznetsov, his father Ivan Petrovich Kuznetsov, an honored metallurgist and deputy of the regional council, stands up for Konovalov.
He understands that his son will soon take over as the plant director and he simply has to hurry to find the culprits before the Moscow commission arrives. He also knew that the overpass was made of substandard beams, and that is the responsibility of the chief engineer...
