The film takes place in the mid-1970s. Construction of a new metro line in Leningrad is underway at a rapid pace.
However, unexpectedly, the metro builders encountered a quicksand, a powerful outburst of underground waters from the ancient bed of the Neva.
During the installation of a transfer tunnel at the Petrovskaya station, a quicksand breaks through and water begins to quickly fill its space.
Not only the metro itself was under threat, but the entire city, because as a result of the outflow of water, voids began to form underground, and this led to subsidence of the soil.
The metro construction management is taking emergency measures to localize the accident.
A decision has been made to build a concrete dam and flood the tunnel with water, but the builders have very little time, and the countdown to a major disaster is in the next few hours...
