Narrative:

The action of the film "And if this is love?" takes place in the early 60s of the last century in a small working village. The main characters of the film Ksenia Zavyalova and Boris Ramzin have been friends since childhood, but in high school this friendship unexpectedly develops into love.

But as often happens in youth, lovers are embarrassed to confess their feelings to someone's face, and do it through love letters or notes. This is what happened to Boris. After all, despite the fact that he and Ksenia sat at the same desk and lived in the same house, Borya did not have the courage to confess his love to the girl verbally, so, like most of his peers, he did it in writing.

If Boris could have guessed that such a drama would arise because of this love letter, he would probably have given up on this idea. But because the letter accidentally fell into the hands of one teacher who was overly concerned with moral rules, a real scandal broke out at school. The lovers were accused of almost debauchery, and they even faced expulsion from school.

The situation in the courtyard where Ksenia and Boris lived was no better. Neighbors constantly whispered behind their backs, some loudly voiced their caustic remarks and comments, and the little ones, as soon as they saw the young people, teased them about the groom and the bride.

Ksenia was especially hard hit, because she was a girl, a symbol of purity and innocence, and the sanctimonious worldview of most adults saw this phenomenon, common in youth, as love, as almost the destruction of “moral foundations.”

Things got to the point that the cornered girl was afraid to go outside and even decided to commit suicide...
