Narrative:

Действие сериала «Человек войны» происходит в 1944 году на территории Западной Белоруссии. Начальник разведывательной группы одного из партизанских отрядов майор госбезопасности Семин сообщает в «центр», что ним завербован один из высших чинов СД Курт Шиммель. В ходе вербовки Шиммель сообщил ему о наличии у немцев в данном районе химического оружия.

Information of particular importance, such as Semin's information, could be taken into account if it was received from several independent sources and therefore required verification.

"Center" sends several reconnaissance and sabotage groups to the area specified by Semin, but all of them perish in German ambushes. In Moscow, they understand that someone is conscientiously "leaking" information to the Germans about the saboteurs and carefully prepare another group. For this purpose, it was decided to send experienced intelligence officer Lida Eisenschmitte, formerly the German Baroness Von Ribenstock, to the rear of the Germans.

However, this group also falls into an ambush. All the saboteurs were destroyed by the Germans. Only two remain alive: the young chemist Gavrilov and Lida Eisenschmitte. The Germans manage to capture Gavrilov alive, but he is seriously wounded, and Schimmel is impatiently waiting for him to recover so that she can find out the necessary information from him.

Meanwhile, Baroness Von Riebenstock appears in the city. The Baroness hopes that her noble origins will make a great impression on the local burghers, who were only the sons of small shopkeepers. Soon, a certain Vogel, the head of the SS Sonderkommando and Schimmel's best friend, is charmed by her. Thus, Lida Eisenschmitte comes across Schimmel and establishes contact with him.

But Schimmel, although he was the son of a small shopkeeper, was also a good professional spy. Pretending to be in love with the Baroness, he carefully studied her personality, suspecting that she was the surviving saboteur. Schimmel hopes to "crack" the Baroness with the help of Gavrilov, but he miraculously manages to escape from the Gestapo dungeons.

Meanwhile, the alarmed Major of State Security Semin meets with Schimmel and raises the alarm. The detachment begins to suspect the major of treason, and the deception with the chemical weapons may soon be discovered. The ambitious careerist Semin planned to earn himself great awards and glory with the help of this disinformation. Semin understood that if the center finds out that he was feeding them unverified information, then he will not receive medals and honors, but rather execution or, in extreme cases, a camp.

In order to protect himself and the “obtained” goods, Semin promptly informed Schimmel about all reconnaissance groups from the center, which later fell into an ambush.

Schimmel understands his agent's anxiety and promises to save him. To do this, Semin must give him the exact coordinates of the partisan detachment, and then immediately disappear from the detachment...
