The film takes place in our time, in one of the provincial Russian cities. A pipe bursts in a city dormitory and a team of repairmen from the local housing management.

Upon inspection of the damage, it was determined that it was not possible to repair it because the house was in a state of disrepair.

Its foundation had sunk significantly, a deep crack ran through the entire wall from the first to the ninth floor, and one of the load-bearing walls had a critical tilt.

Young foreman Dmitry Nikitin realized that this house could collapse in the very near future and sounded the alarm.

Despite the late hour, he contacts the city authorities, naively believing that he is doing the right thing. However, this strange feature of always doing the right thing, for which Nikitin was called a fool behind his back, came back to haunt him.

After all, the money allocated from the budget for the capital repairs of this and other buildings was simply embezzled. And by the very same city leadership that Nikitin so imprudently turned to for help...
