The action of the film "Kidnapping, Caucasian Style!" takes place in modern Russia. A young journalist, Shurik, comes to Caucasus to make a report dedicated to the traditions, customs and legends of this wonderful mountain region.
It is unknown how this story would have ended for Shurik if in the city of Gorsk he had not met a young graduate student, athlete and simply beautiful Nina, with whom he falls in love at first sight.
But it turns out that Nina already has a fiancé, and none other than the mayor of Gorsk, Saakhov. Having learned that Shurik dreams of taking part in some ancient Caucasian rite, Saakhov suggests that Shurik "steal a bride for him."
Thinking that the kidnapping of the bride will really be part of some ancient ritual, Shurik agrees, but soon he learns that this is not a game at all and tries to prevent Saakhov from carrying out his plans...
