Narrative:

The action of the movie "Night Patrol" takes place in the late 50's of the last century. From the safe of the director of the wholesale trading base stolen a large sum of money and a folder with official documents. In the course of preliminary investigation detectives established that in the evening at the base came to the chauffeur Alexei Nikiforov, who was the son of the chief accountant.

One of the operatives put forward a version of Alexei's involvement in the theft of money in collusion with his father, because it was found that Nikiforov Jr. often moonlighted as a "fake" transportation.

However, police commissioner Ivan Krechetov doubts that the accountant and his son were involved in the theft. The way the safe was opened professionally, Krechetov saw the handwriting of his old acquaintance Pavel Obruchev, a bear thief nicknamed "Ogonyok".

After their last meeting with Obruchev, the latter went to serve his sentence without giving up his "Baron" accomplice. Since then, no one has heard anything about "Ogonyok", and so many years later, has he reappeared in the city?

While Krechetov thought about Obruchev and his role in this case, suddenly disappears accountant Nikiforov and on the same day at the hands of an unknown killer killed patrol policeman Petty Officer Maximov.

The disappearance of the accountant and the murder of the patrolman supported the theory that he was involved in the theft, but a few days later the accountant's corpse with a stab wound was found in the woods outside the city.

It was obvious from the handwriting that the accountant's killer and the policeman on patrol were the same person. Probably, the patrolman stopped the car when the murderer was driving the accountant out of town, and on the way back he decided to eliminate a dangerous witness.

The murder of the accountant Nikiforov further stumped the investigation, but suddenly "Ogonyok" comes to see Krechetov. He was in great debt to the commissioner and now came to return it, and at the same time to tell about what he kept silent many years ago, namely, about who really hides under the nickname "Baron" ...
