The plot of the movie They Were Actors:

During the occupation of Crimea by Nazi troops from 1941 to 1944, the territory of the peninsula became an arena of confrontation with the invaders. The actors of the Crimean State Drama Theater named after M. Gorky, renamed by the occupation authorities in "Simferopol Russian Theater of Drama and Comedy", did not stay aside from this struggle. They formed an underground group "Falcons". This group was active, aimed at undermining the German rear.

"The Falcons were engaged in intelligence gathering. They passed information to the Soviet command about the location of enemy troops, ammunition depots and military facilities. The underground also distributed anti-fascist leaflets. They raised the morale of the population. They carried out sabotage.

However, under the conditions of occupation, different forms of behavior were manifested. Along with heroism and self-sacrifice, there were cases of collaborationism. Some residents went to serve the occupiers, betraying their people and compatriots. It was betrayal that caused the tragedy of the underground group "Falcons".

As a result of the denunciation, the Gestapo got on the trail of the underground. On April 10, 1944, just three days before the liberation of Simferopol by the Red Army, members of the group "Falcons" were arrested. They were subjected to torture. Despite the brutal interrogations, the underground did not betray their comrades and did not disclose information about their activities. On the same day, on the outskirts of Simferopol, the Gestapo shot the underground actors.
