Plot of the film Late Meeting (1978 film):
What to do if the feelings have already passed, and life together has become just a formality? Continue living and pretend that everything is as before. This is exactly what many do, and the film's hero, forty-eight-year-old Sergei Gushchin from Sverdlovsk, is no exception.
Test engineer in Research Institute, a former front-line soldier and combat pilot, did not understand how he had ended up in such a life. At the front, he probably shot anyone who would have told him that by the age of fifty he would turn into a silent slave. But Gushchin remained silent. And when his wife came home late, and when she threw scandals at him.
But one day Gushchin went on a business trip to Leningrad. Here at the Lenfilm studio he met a young actress, Natasha Proskurova. Gushchin fell in love with the girl at first sight. But, despite the fact that Natasha reciprocated his feelings, Gushchin did not rush things.
What could he give this young and beautiful girl, except for gray hair? The mission was soon over, and he had to return home. However, Gushchin returned home a completely different person. He again became the desperate combat pilot he had been known for many years ago. That one day with Natasha completely turned his life upside down…
